We are thrilled to invite your students to take part in the Bootle Children’s Literary Festival – Poetry Competition 2025!

As part of this year’s festival, our poetry competition celebrates the theme “Here be Treasure” and encourages young poets to explore the different kinds of treasure in their lives – whether it’s hidden treasure, the beauty of nature, inner strength, thrilling adventures or the magic of storytelling!

  • Open to ages 6-17 across Liverpool City Region
  • A chance to win amazing prizes
  • Winning poems will be published and launched during the festival (25th October – 15th November)
  • A fantastic opportunity to inspire creativity and boost confidence

How to Enter:

  1. Choose a category from:
    • Hidden Treasure(Pirates and their treasure)
    • Treasure Planet(Caring for our environment)
    • Treasure Inside(Kindness, confidence and self-worth)
    • Treasure Hunters & Explorers(Ancient ruins, jungles and adventure)
    • The Treasure of Stories(The power of books and imagination)
  2. Write a poem
  3. Optional: Include any artwork to accompany it
  4. Fill in the entry form (attached)
  5. Submit individual or school entries by Friday 27th June 2025by email to media@ykids.co.uk or post to Ykids, 98a Linacre Lane, Bootle, L20 6ES
