Gruffalo Room

Welcome to Reception!

Our aim in Reception is to ensure all children are happy, confident, secure and valued.  Children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and learn through a range of adult led and child initiated activities, which are both practical and challenging.  Progress is carefully monitored and each child’s next steps are planned accordingly.  If you are ever worried or there is anything that we can do to help please come and see us.

School day: 8.45-3.15
Snack time: 9.45 (approx)
Lunchtime: 12.15

Please try to arrive on time and be prompt collecting your child at the end of the day. Please remember to inform the school office if your child will be absent from school or if someone else will be collecting them.

A piece of fruit and a carton of milk are provided daily.

Please contribute £1 per week to enable us to provide a variety of additional nutritious snacks such as cream cheese crackers, wraps, wholemeal toast and yogurts.

Please provide your child with a named water bottle which needs to be kept in school. This can be accessed by them throughout the day.

The children are entitled to a free school lunch. In order to foster healthy eating habits they will be encouraged to choose a hot meal but they do have the option of a sandwich. Alternatively, you are of course welcome to send them in with a packed lunch.

Reception P.E day is Friday.

Children will need to wear the correct kit please: maroon shorts/joggers and white t-shirt.

Your child’s reading book will be sent home on a Monday after a staff member has read with them individually. Please share as many books as possible at home with your child. You are welcome to borrow books daily from our ‘Lending Library’. Please comment in their reading record to share with staff.
