School Announcement

Dear Parents and Carers

As of Friday 20th March our school as well as all schools in England will be closed. Because of this we have created learning packs and online resources for children to access at home.

As a staff, we recognise how important it is to try to minimise the impact on the children’s education and we have managed to put in place some measures which will hopefully ensure that the children are able to consolidate some of their prior learning. We recognise that nothing can replace a qualified teacher; however, hopefully these interim measures will go some way to enabling the children to access some learning if school is closed.

Each child from years Reception to Year 6 will receive a pack which will contain:

  • One exercise book/Text Book
  • Reading Books
  • Purple Mash Log ins –  https://www.purplemash.com/sch/thomas-l20 Free access to books and learning – teachers will add ‘to do’ tasks here for you
  • A pack of learning activities from your class teacher
  • Some activities connected to their topics in school

We will try to ensure that work can be completed independently by the children and we do not expect parents to ‘teach’ any new learning.  If parents wish the children to complete further learning they can choose appropriate activities from our projects which will be sent out weekly via our school website.  We recommend for children to read as many books as possible, which is a very are worthwhile learning experience.  We will also continue to send out learning opportunities via our twitter account @tgrayprimary

Obviously, we cannot insist that work is carried out at home, however we hope that this will go some way to reassuring you that we are doing our best to mitigate what is an unprecedented situation.

If you have any questions about the situation, please email admin@thomasgrayprimary.co.uk and we will do our best to respond.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding

Choosing The Right School For Your Child Is A Very Important Decision.

You will want to be sure that they are given every opportunity to develop their talents to the full. Equally, you will be keen to know that they are growing up in a happy and fulfilling environment where they are appreciated and encouraged as individuals.

Thomas Gray Primary School is recognised throughout Bootle and Sefton as being a very good school. We have a high regard for the families of our pupils and value the importance of a partnership with parents. We believe strongly that we should work together with parents in order to support children’s education.
